The following information is needed in the creation of a product:

  1. The Language selection: Some specific details of a product can be written in several languages depending on the language support available for the merchant or requested by the administrator. A default language can be selected. The name of the product, short description and long description can have different language translations. The administrator needs to type-out the translated version after selecting the appropriate language icon.

  2. Name of the product: This is the name that will be displayed on the PoS device used by the cashier

  3. Short description

  4. Long description

  5. Tags: Adding tags to products makes it easy for products to be identified when searching on the product list. Tags are also useful when setting up discounts for products.

  6. Price: The price at which the product is to be sold to customers. For example, 15.99.

  7. VAT (Value Added tax): Is the general consumption tax for the consumption of goods and services. For example, 14% is the VAT rate for some products in Finland.

  8. Product cost: This is the cost of producing a product. For example, 10.99.

  9. Diets and Allergens

  10. **EAN (**European Article Number- barcode): This is used for products with barcodes.

  11. Preparation time and Cancellation time

  12. Discount Management: Coupon discounts, Compensations, Memberships

  13. Publishing Products: Every created product needs to be published for it to be visible on the Yonoton PoS application.

  14. Send to Yorma status: Administrators can define the initial status of a product when they are sent to the order management platform. The status that can be defined for a product includes Completed, Received, Preparing and Ready. For example, a product called Apple pie or a bottle of Coca-cola can be set as completed, hence when the product is sold on the POS system, the product is sent directly to completed. Whereas a product called Pizza may be set as Received and the chef starts the preparation only after the order has been bought. Send to Yorma status can also be applicable for products that are bought on apps that will be picked up or delivered to the customer.

  15. Delivery Options: it is important to state if customers can pick up their deliveries from the outlet or if products can be delivered to the customer’s seat in the outlet if it is ordered by the customer using their smart devices

  16. Distribution: certain products are only sold with some main products. It is important to indicate this while setting up the product

  17. Categories (Type, category, sorting category, and reference code): The default type for each product is Food. There are 8 types for products, they include: Food, Drink, Alcohol, Product, Entrance Ticket, Event Ticket, Service, and Coupon

  18. Product Sorting Category indicates the order in which the products are to be displayed. For instance, the product A fresh Tea will be the second product under the Beverage category.
